Individual Therapy vs. Relational Therapy
Individual Therapy
Individual Therapy takes on a strengths-based approach to healing. An integrative framework to help clients explore their life through their perception of connections, thoughts, and emotions.
We offer individual therapy services to address interpersonal orientations that include depression, grief, anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions, trauma, identity development, relationships, and self-harm. On the contrary, we do recognize that individuals cannot be understood in isolation. An individualโs various systems greatly impact their success and struggles.
Relational Therapy
Relational therapy (couple and family therapy) focuses on the multiple individuals and relationships that make up a family unit. Relational therapists focus less on the individual and more on the patterns, dynamics, and environment in which they are in. These systems are most often their families, their work teams, their cultural groups, and their community. A relational therapist will tune into these various systems the individual is a part of to best understand how to make and sustain change.
Family Therapy
Family therapy often includes all the members of the family, even those that are less than willing or able to participate (such as reluctant teens). Having all members present helps the therapist understand the full scope of patterns at play.
The Wellness Institute proudly works with couples to address various areas of conflict, especially communication and intimacy. Utilizing family therapy theories and tools in our notable Particularly with parenting couples, as they are the leaders of their families. Par when couples become parents. Parenting adds a unique set of challenges in balancing new roles and responsibilites.
